Horst was appointed Vice President Global Mobility for IBM Human Resources in November 2018. In this role Horst leads a global team to ensure IBM has the right people in the right place at the right time by facilitating the successful deployment of talent around the world. His drive to provide assignees a seamless experience while driving operational excellence and leveraging analytics to create business intelligence are at the core of IBM’s HR transformation.

Since Horst joined IBM in 1999, he has served in multiple executive roles globally, living and working for IBM in Europe, China and the U.S. This international career has allowed Horst to gain HR experience both as a generalist and a specialist at different organizational levels.

Prior to his current role, Horst led the Human Resources organization for IBM’s Greater China Group during a period of deep transformation and Central & Eastern Europe where he oversaw operations in 17 countries including Russia and Turkey. Before that, he held different roles within Talent and Leadership, playing a leading role in important projects such as the centralization of recruitment activities, the divestiture of the PC business, the re-organization in Europe, as well as the pension projects for different countries around the world. Horst has also served as Executive Assistant to Randy MacDonald, IBM CHRO.

Originally from Germany, Horst joined IBM from uniVersa, a German insurance company, where he supported the sales organization as a Finance & HR analyst.

Horst holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsakademie in Nuremberg, Germany, which he obtained in evening classes over a period of 3 years.

Horst relocated to New York in August 2017 with his wife Elena and his sons Daniel and Manuel.
